ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the relationship between medical students' pain empathy response(pain emapthy) and prosocial tendency, and the moderating effect of attentional bias. Methods:In April 2022, 108 medical students were evaluated by the general characteristics survey questionnaire, pain empathy scale (EPS), and prosocial tendencies measure (PTM). The E-Prime dot probe task paradigm experiment procedure was used to evaluate the attentional bias of all participants. SPSS 24.0 was used for descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, stratified regression analysis, and repeated measure ANOVA. PROCESS 3.4.1 was used for moderating effect analysis.Results:(1)The pain transference score of female medical students was significantly lower than that of male(3.46±0.67, 3.95±0.51)( t=3.54, P<0.05). Medical students with chronic pain had significantly lower scores than those without chronic pain(3.28±0.84, 3.66±0.60)( t=-2.35, P<0.05). There was significant difference in prosocial tendency among medical students of different majors( χ2=6.62, P<0.05). (2)There was positive correlation( r=0.39, P<0.001) between their transference for pain(3.59±0.66) and prosocial tendency(3.60±0.50) in medical students. (3)Transference for pain could significantly positively predict prosocial tendency in medical students ( B=0.26, P<0.001). The attention bias of medical students to sadness in pain situation (d pain sadness) played a moderating role between transference for pain and prosocial tendency( B=0.01, P<0.05). Conclusion:The level of medical students’ transference for pain can significantly predict their prosocial tendencies, and improving medical students’ attention to sadness in pain situations is beneficial to exert the effect of transference for pain on prosocial behaviors.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observed the effects of electroacupuncture frequency on the nerve function and postsynaptic destination-95 (PSD-95), growth associated protein-43 (GAP-43) in brain tissue of rats with cerebral ischemia were observed. Methods:Healthy adult male SD rats were randomly divided into the blank group, sham operation group, model group and 2 Hz, 50 Hz, 100 Hz electroacupuncture groups. MCAO models were prepared in each group, except blank group and sham operation group. After modeling, Qiansanli and Waiguan acupoints were given stimulation with 2 Hz, 50 Hz and 100 Hz respectively in 2 Hz electroacupuncture group, 50 Hz electroacupuncture group and 100 Hz electroacupuncture group, 1 time/d and 20 min/time for 21 consecutive days. All groups were scored by Bederson score on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th and 21th day after operation. The ultrastructure of synapses was observed by transmission electron microscope, and the positive expression of PSD-95 and GAP-43 was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results:After modeling 7, 14 and 21 days, compared with the model group, the Bederson behavioral score (1.70 ± 0.52 vs. 2.40 ± 0.56, 1.20 ± 0.65 vs. 2.30 ± 0.46, 0.70 ± 0.72 vs. 2.00 ± 0.86) in 50 Hz electroacupuncture group significantly decreased ( P<0.01 or P<0.05). The expression of PSD-95 (58.67 ± 1.72, 55.22 ± 2.45, 60.10 ± 2.49 vs. 70.87 ± 2.34) intergral optical density of rats’ cortex in 2 Hz, 50 Hz, 100 Hz electroacupuncture groups significantly decreased ( P<0.01), the expression of GAP-43 in 2 Hz and 50 Hz electroacupuncture groups (58.89 ± 1.28, 64.76 ± 3.94 vs. 53.24 ± 2.58) significantly increased ( P<0.01). Conclusions:Electroacupuncture with different frequency can improve motor nerve disfunction of cerebral ischemia rats, and 50 Hz electroacupuncture group showed the most obvious effect. It can regulate PSD-95 and GAP-43 expressions of ischemic area, lower neural excitatory toxicity, increase neuronal axon regeneration and exert the neural protect function.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To evaluate one-stage repair of leg open fracture with soft tissue defect by fixation plus skin flap.@*Methods@#From January 2011 to January 2018, 34 patients with leg open fracture plus soft tissue defect were treated at Department of Orthopedics, The Second Affiliated Hospital to Harbin Medical University. They were 31 males and 3 females, aged from 13 to 54 years(average, 35 years). According to the Gustilo classification, the defects were type ⅢA in 31 cases and type ⅢB in 3 cases. The wound size ranged from 6 cm×3 cm to 25 cm×10 cm. All patients were treated with emergency fracture fixation and flap repair by one stage after thorough debridement. Internal bone plating was performed in 32 patients and external fixation at a single arm in 2 patients. All defects were repaired with a free anterolateral thigh flap. Flap survival, vascular crisis and bone infection were followed up postoperatively.@*Results@#All the free flaps survived in the 34 cases with no vascular crisis. These patients were followed up for 6 months to 3 years (average, 10 years). The flaps healed well, with good appearance and soft texture. No bone infection occurred at the defective sites. After postoperative rehabilitation, the knee extension ranged from 160° to 180°, knee flexion from 90° to 110°, ankle dorsal extension from 90° to 110°, and ankle plantar flexion from 100° to 120°.@*Conclusion@#Soft tissue defects in leg open fracture can be effectively treated by flap repair after thorough debridement at the same time of fracture fixation, because the primary wound healing can avoid infection and lead to fine survival of the flap.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze the imaging characteristics and diagnostic value of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/CT in muscular inflammation in dermatomyositis (DM), as well as the relationship between maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and activity of muscular inflammation.@*Methods@#From July 2013 to November 2016, 17 hospitalized DM patients (8 males, 9 females, age range: 35-78 years) who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT were retrospectively reviewed, including 13 typical DM (TDM) and 4 amyopathic DM (ADM). Seventeen healthy volunteers (8 males, 9 females, age range: 35-78 years) in the same period were enrolled as the control group. The proximal limb muscles of whole body were divided into 7 areas, and the SUVmax of each was measured and recorded. Two-sample t test, one-way analysis of variance, Dunnett-t test and Spearman correlation analysis were used to analyze data.@*Results@#Five TDM cases showed diffuse increased FDG uptake in global muscles; 8 TDM cases showed increased FDG uptake in local muscles, mainly in the shoulder and hip. The FDG uptake by muscles of 4 ADM patients was similar with that of controls. The SUVmax was lower and lower in the order of shoulder and back muscles, hip muscles, thoracic vertebra muscles, cervical vertebra muscles, biceps, proximal quadriceps and lumbar vertebra muscles in DM group. The muscle SUVmax of DM, TDM, ADM and the controls were 1.92±0.86, 2.14±0.85, 1.19±0.44 and 0.93±0.26, respectively (F=69.50, P<0.001). Muscle SUVmax of DM group was higher than that of controls, muscle SUVmax of TDM was higher than that of ADM, and muscle SUVmax of ADM was higher than that of controls (t values: 4.102-11.970, all P<0.05). Muscle SUVmax of 9 DM patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) was lower than that of patients without ILD (1.73±0.09 vs 2.13±0.13; t=5.857, P<0.001). Muscle SUVmax of DM was positive correlated with serum levels of creatine kinase (CK) and creatine kinase isoenzyme composed by M and B subunits (CK-MB) (rs values: 0.814 and 0.751, both P<0.001).@*Conclusion@#18F-FDG PET/CT is helpful to detect muscular inflammation of DM and it can reflect the activity and severity with SUVmax, and meanwhile evaluate the condition of ILD associated with DM.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effects of improvements on setup error ( SE ) and clinical target ( CTV ) margin of supraclavicular field ( SCF ) by using moisture-cured resin cushion and breast bracket for lower neck fixation in breast cancer patients who underwent post-mastectomy radiotherapy. Methods Totally 13 patients with breast cancer who underwent post-mastectomy radiotherapy were enrolled. All patients were immobilized by breast bracket and moisture-cured resin cushion. Firstly, each patient′s lower neck and head was fixed well by moisture-cured resin cushion, filling the gap between the neck and breast bracket. Secondly, each patient underwent the cone-beam CT ( CBCT) at the first, tenth and twentieth treatment after positioning. Then these CBCT images were registered to the planning CT to determine setup errors in translational and rotational directions, and SCF CTV margins by the systematic and random errors were evaluated. Results The setup errors in x (left-right), y (superior-inferior), z (anterior-posterior) translational directions were (2. 16 ± 1. 25), (1. 50 ± 1. 28), (1. 94 ± 1. 12) mm and (1. 76 ±1. 87)°, (1. 82 ±1. 12)°, (0. 99 ±0. 58)°, respectively in θ (pitch degree),Ф(roll degree),ψ( yaw degree) rotational directions. Non-parametric rank test ( Mann-Whitney U test) was performed with previous data, the differences of the setup error in y, z,θ directions were statistically significant ( Z =4. 152, 3. 415, 2. 053, P<0. 05). The margins from CTV were 4. 07, 4. 03 and 3. 73 mm in x, y and z directions, respectively. Compared with the previous study on SCF, CTV margin required 8, 8 and 6 mm in x, y and z axis directions, the volume of CTV to PTV were decreased by 32. 73% on average. Conclusions Compared with plastic circular pillow alone, moisture-cured resin cushion with breast bracket locating method could reduce setup errors in SCF target region. The margins from CTV to PTV weredecreased to 4. 07, 4. 03 and 3. 73 mm in x, y and z axis directions at least.

ABSTRACT

[Objective] Examine the expression of Galectin-3 (Gal-3),B cell lymphoma-2 protein (Bcl-2) in epithelial ovarian cancer tissues with regard to clinicopathological and survival variables, testing whether they can serve as prognostic markers and provide evidence for further research.[Methods] 98 EOC tissues and 10 normal ovarian tissues were collected,as well as their clinical documents. The expression of Gal-3 and Bcl-2 was tested via immunohistochemical staining analysis. Then the correlation between these two proteins and the clinicopathological and survival variables of these patients were evaluated.[Results] Of the 98 EOC,Gal-3 and Bcl-2 were all cytoplasmic staining.Gal-3 was observed in a majority of the EOC tumor cell proper (75/98,76.5%) but not in normal ovarian tissues.Bcl-2 was observed in a majority of the EOC tumor cell proper (50/98,51.0%) but not in normal ovarian tissue.Spearman bivariate correlation test show that there was no correlation between the expression Gal-3 and Bcl-2 (P =0.867).Gal-3 expression in EOC was associated with histology and platinum sensitivity (P =0.043,P =0.038),while Bcl-2 was associated with FIGO stage (P =0.029).Cox univariate analysis revealed that Gal-3,Bcl-2 expression, platinum sensitivity, stage were associated with overall survival (P =0.008,P =0.021,P < 0.001,P < 0.001).Further multivariate analysis showed that only Gal-3 expression, platinum sensitivity, stage affected the survival of these patients (P =0.014,P =0.021,P < 0.001).[Conclusions]The expression of Gal-3 and Bcl-2 in EOC was significantly higher than that in normal ovarian tissue, supposed that they may involve in the development and progression of EOC.Gal-3 expression was associated with histology, platinum sensitivity and survival,it may be an independent predictive factor for EOC prognosis. There was no correlation between the expression Gal-3 and Bcl-2 in EOC,the functional mechanism between these two protein need further research.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Primary culture in vitro of neurons plays an important role in the development, regeneration, signal transduction mechanisms, neuropharmacology and gene expressions of the nervous system. OBJECTIVE:To establish a simple method for primary culture of high-purity cortical neurons in neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats. METHODS:Cortical tissues were acquired from neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats born 1 day. In traditional experimental group, the whole cortex was removed;in improved experimental group, the cortical tissues, 2-3 mm thick on the brain surface were removed. Single cel suspensions were prepared after papain digestion and centrifugation and were then seeded onto 24-wel culture plates containing neuron solutions for primary culture (1×105 per wel ). Cel s were identified by neuronal specific markers MAP-2 and Tuj1 after 3-day culture. The number of neurons and neurite length were observed under inverted phase contrast microscope and recorded at 6, 24, 48 and 72 hours, 5 and 7 days of culture, resprctively. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The cultured cel s expressing MAP-2 and Tuj1 were neurons that could be used in the fol owing experiments. The purity of neurons in the improved experimental group was 92%at 3 days, while only 51%in the traditional experimental group. Cel s in both two groups had attached to the wal presenting with smal processes at 6 hours, and a simple neural network formed at the 3rd day until dense neural networks could be found at the 5th day. To conclude, our culture method herein is simple and convenient, and can be used to produce neurons with high purity, which wil be helpful for the experimental studies on cortical neurons from Sprague-Dawley rats.

ABSTRACT

We analyzed the genetic characteristics of coxsackievirus A4 (CV-A4) based on the entire VP1 coding region. Samples were isolated from patients with acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) in Shaanxi, China from 2006 to 2010. We wished to ascertain the predominant genotype and the relationship between CV-A4 infection and AFP. Sixty-eight non-polio enteroviruses were inoculated onto RD cells (to increase the virus titer) and molecular typing was undertaken. The entire VP1 coding region was amplified. Percentage of CV-A4 was 10.3% (7/68). Analyses of genetic identify and creation of phylogenetic trees revealed that CV-A4 could be classified into A, B and C genotypes. Seven CV-A4 strains from Shaanxi and other CV-A4 strains from China formed an independent evolution lineage located in group 4 and belonged to the C2 sub-genotype. These data suggested that CV-A4 strains of sub-genotype C2 were the predominant genotypes in China. These strains co-evolved and co-circulated with those from other provinces in China, so continued monitoring of CV-A4 (by clinical and genetic surveillance) should be enhanced.

ABSTRACT

PurposeCurrent conventional imaging methods X-ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound for rheumatic diseases are mostly local site imaging, rather than systemic display, thus is difficult to show the whole picture of the diseases, this study aims to explore the18F-FDG PET/CT findings of rheumatic diseases and its preliminary clinical value. Materials and Methods18F-FDG PET/CT imaging findings and clinical data of 18 patients with rheumatic diseases confirmed by clinical diagnosis were retrospectively analyzed, and 18F-FDG uptake of lesions was observed. Results Among all the 18 patients with rheumatic diseases: four cases were with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), 5 cases with takayasu arteritis (TA), 2 cases with adult onset Still’s disease (AOSD), 1 case with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and 6 cases with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Findings of PET/CT: RA showed increased FDG uptake in multiple bigger joints such as shoulder joint, elbow, hip, wrist joint, and part palm finger joints, with no bone abnormalities in CT; TA displayed as diffusely increased uptake of FDG the aorta and its major branches vascular wall while CT showed multiple arterial wall irregular thickening with dot or strip calcification, and in one case, the vascular wall FDG uptake decreased obviously after one year treatment, the SUVmax of left clavicle dropped from 6.8 to 3.2; AOSD showed diffusely increased FDG uptake in spleen and bone marrow, while CT had no obvious spleen and bone abnormalities; PMR showed increased uptake of FDG in the atlantoaxial joint, shoulder joint, sternoclavicular joint, hip joint, pubic symphysis, ischial tuberosity and lesions around lumbar spinous process; only 1 case of 6 AS patients showed left acetabular articular surface hyperplasia and sclerosis with increased FDG uptake, while CT showed spinal multiple vertebral bone hyperplasia and sclerosis as bamboo change in all of 6 AS cases, with normal FDG metabolism. Conclusion18F-FDG PET/CT is helpful for the diagnosis of rheumatic diseases, because it can be used to display the lesion extent, reflect its activity, and also to evaluate the effect of the treatments.
